Explore in Freedom – With a Campervan or Motorhome
If you want to truly experience a country’s beauty and scale, travelling by campervan or motorhome is the perfect way to do it.
Whether you’re planning a road trip through New Zealand, exploring Australia, or touring Europe, we’ll help you find the ideal vehicle to match your route, travel style, and budget.
A campervan is compact and easy to handle – ideal for couples or solo travellers who love flexibility and freedom.
A motorhome, on the other hand, offers more space and comfort, complete with a kitchen, shower, and toilet – perfect for families or longer adventures.

Thanks to our long-standing partnerships with leading international and local rental companies, we can offer you exclusive deals and great rates on campervans and motorhomes across the globe.
🌿 Tip: During peak season, campervans are in high demand – book early to secure your preferred model.

Explore multiple destinations without unpacking every night.
Sleep in the heart of nature, with all the comforts of home.
Enjoy your morning coffee with a mountain or ocean view.
Discover hidden gems far from the crowds – completely stress-free.
At Global Wings Travel, we’re proud to be based right here in New Zealand – with team members also in Australia and Europe.
That means you’re dealing with people who are close to you, easy to reach, and who truly understand what Kiwi travellers want – wherever they go.
Because we’re on the ground in several parts of the world, we don’t just know the vehicles – we know the routes, campsites, and insider tips that make each trip unforgettable.
From New Zealand and Australia to Canada, the USA, and Europe, we work with trusted rental partners to offer modern vehicles, flexible options, and competitive rates.
Everything we recommend is based on first-hand experience – our team has driven the same roads and stayed at the same campgrounds we suggest.
That local expertise, backed by a global network, is what sets us apart and ensures your journey runs smoothly from start to finish.
With over 30 years of experience and direct partnerships with leading campervan rental companies across New Zealand, Australia, and around the world, we give you access to the full range of vehicles available.
Whether you’re after a compact van for spontaneous adventures, a comfortable motorhome for relaxed touring, or a luxury vehicle for the ultimate road-trip experience — we’ll help you find the perfect fit for your route and travel style.
We focus on choice, value, and personal service, ensuring your journey is smooth, enjoyable, and unforgettable from start to finish.
A self-contained campervan is ideal for travellers who want maximum freedom and independence. With a built-in toilet, fresh water supply, and wastewater tank, you’re fully equipped to camp off the main tourist routes and experience nature without limits — whether you’re exploring New Zealand’s rugged coastlines or Australia’s vast Outback.
But don’t worry – you can enjoy both countries just as wonderfully in a non-self-contained campervan! In New Zealand, the Department of Conservation (DOC) manages hundreds of scenic campsites with toilet facilities, where certification isn’t required. In Australia, you’ll find a huge network of national park and council campgrounds offering basic facilities at beautiful natural locations.
💡 Travel tip: With New Zealand’s affordable DOC Camping Pass, you can stay up to 30 nights on DOC sites for around 95 NZD – a great way to experience nature sustainably and economically.
We are an official partner of many campervan rental companies in New Zealand and Australia. Because of the high booking volume we manage, we receive exclusive rates that are not publicly available. We pass these savings directly on to you. Your booking is identical to booking directly with the rental company – same vehicle, same service – only at a better price.
Once you receive our offer and select a campervan model along with your insurance options, simply let us know. We’ll need your full contact details and then place the booking officially with the rental company. After confirmation (usually the same day), you’ll receive a booking confirmation and invoice from us.
With the booking confirmation, a deposit is due. The remaining balance is payable either on the day of vehicle pick-up or 40 days before departure—depending on each rental company’s terms. Don’t worry: we handle the entire payment process and ensure everything is done properly and on time. Some rental companies also send you a pre-check-in link by email a few weeks before pick-up.
Global Wings operates internationally, with offices in Germany, Australia and New Zealand. With our team across different time zones, we are reachable around the clock and always here to assist you.
Yes – but only under certain conditions. In Australia and New Zealand, freedom camping is only allowed in designated areas. In many regions, you can camp freely only if you have a certified self-contained vehicle (with a toilet and wastewater system). This allows you to stay overnight by lakes, beaches, or in stunning natural surroundings – as long as you follow the local regulations. Handy tip: Apps like CamperMate make it easy to find legal campsites and avoid fines.
Most rental companies have depots in Auckland and Christchurch, making these standard locations for pick-up and drop-off. In some cases—for example, for long-term rentals—we can negotiate with the rental company to allow other locations like Queenstown, Wellington or Picton. Typically, a remote fee may apply.
For the 2025/26 season, we’re excited that one of our partners is offering direct pick-up and drop-off in Queenstown!
The rental agreement is always between you and the campervan rental company. Global Wings acts as facilitator — handling the booking, payments, and communications — to ensure everything goes smoothly and on time.
In New Zealand and Australia, it’s easy to discover great places to stay overnight. Apps such as CamperMate, WikiCamps (Australia & New Zealand), and Rankers Camping NZ show campgrounds, holiday parks, and approved freedom camping spots across the country – including photos, reviews, and facility details. Fully equipped holiday parks are usually located near popular towns and attractions. With a certified self-contained campervan, you can also stay at remote lakes, beaches, or mountains – as long as it’s an approved freedom camping zone.
If your driver’s licence is issued in English, or includes an English translation (as is standard for German licences), you can drive in New Zealand without needing an international licence. If your licence is not in English, you’ll need either an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an official translation.
We offer flexible payment methods to make it as easy as possible for you. You can pay via bank transfer in all major currencies (e.g. EUR, NZD, AUD, USD, GBP, CHF).
If you prefer to pay by credit card, we’ll send you a secure payment link (also avialble in all major currencies) with a small 2.5 % surcharge. We also offer alternative payment options such as PayPal and Wise, giving you even more flexibility.
You will, of course, receive an official invoice for every payment.
We work closely with Interislander and Bluebridge and are happy to book the ferry crossing for you—at the exact same price as on their websites. The difference is: you receive full support and added flexibility. If your plans change, just let us know — we’ll adjust or cancel the ferry booking for you at no extra cost.
For trips between popular destinations, such as from Auckland to Christchurch or from Sydney to Melbourne, a fee is usually charged, as these routes are in high demand. However, if you’re flexible and choose the opposite direction – for example, from Christchurch to Auckland or from Melbourne to Sydney – the fee is often much lower and sometimes even waived entirely.
Cancellation policies depend on the individual rental company. We always provide the exact terms when you book so you know what applies in your case. If you have questions or uncertainties, we’re happy to help you.
Yes, absolutely! We’re here to support you before, during, and after your trip. Our team answers questions, handles details, and ensures your travels run smoothly.
Yes – absolutely! Flight booking is part of our core services. Whether international flights, domestic connections or complex multi-city routes — we find the best options and coordinate them seamlessly with your campervan journey or other travel plans.
For the best deals, we recommend planning your trip from Christchurch to Auckland (or in Australia, from south to north) towards the end of the travel season — between February and April.
During this off-peak period, rental companies often offer significant discounts as they relocate vehicles back to their main depots, such as Auckland, Sydney, or Brisbane. It’s a great way to enjoy the same journey for a lower price.
