Heiko

Heiko Wetzel is the Managing Director for Global Wings Travel. As a travel consultant with over 20 years of active experience in the travel industry, Heiko specialises in sourcing competitive prices for flights worldwide, and great packages for ocean and river cruises, as well as campervan and motorhome hire, and hotel bookings.

Heiko came to New Zealand in 2005, working for 5 years in Christchurch. His passion for travel led him to the industry that he loves and also to his love affair with New Zealand, where he decided to make his home. He returned to Germany in 2010 and set up the European arm of his travel agency business in Reisen, before immigrating to New Zealand to open Global Wings Travel in Richmond, near Nelson. Having an office in Germany has allowed Heiko to offer Global Wings customers access to better rates on flights to and from European destinations and travel bookings throughout Europe and onto the rest of the world.

Heiko is an avid traveller still, who never tires of finding new destinations to explore, and is happy to share his own experiences with his clients.

Eva

Senior Travel Consultant Eva started her career in the travel industry around the same time she moved to New Zealand. Austrian-born, Eva’s passion for travel began in childhood, and she has great memories of travelling and living all over Europe, California and Asia.

Eva enjoys sharing her passion for New Zealand’s diversity with clients, helping them find the best this beautiful country has to offer, but equally loves introducing new experiences to people travelling abroad to other exciting parts of the world.

Eva loves the challenge of finding the best and most suitable airfares for every client, and is one of those rare people who enjoys the methodical and thorough approach needed for ticketing.

Since her children have grown up and moved to the other side of the world, Eva likes to head over to Europe on a regular basis, exploring different places and destinations each time. Although her roots are firmly in New Zealand, Eva will always consider herself a World Traveller.

Sabine

Born and raised in Germany, Sabine lives with her partner in Kerikeri where she gets to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and coastlines the area has to offer.

She started her career nearly 30 years ago at the legendary “Trixie Newton’s World Travel”, which was then the Cruise Centre of the North. In May 2022 she joined the team at Global Wings Travel.

From Australia to Zanzibar – Sabine has travelled extensively. She has seen most of Europe, has done safari’s in East and South Africa, relaxed and explored Thailand, travelled through Australia by campervan, enjoyed Costa Rica’s nature in a rental car, been on expedition cruises to islands where visitors have never been before and visited exotic islands like Cape Verde Islands, Mauritius and Zanzibar. Just to name a few…

For Sabine, meeting the locals, going off the beaten track and a “bit of an adventure” is a must-do on each one of her travels.

Sabine loves sharing her travel adventures and knowledge with her customers to help find them the holiday of their dreams.

Jolanda

Originally from Switzerland, Jolanda found her way to New Zealand many years ago, as part of an around the world trip that has never ended. From a young age her curiosity to learn about different countries, cultures and food made her passionate to explore many popular as well as many less travelled places in this world. She has enjoyed stand-up Paddle boarding in the remote tranquility of Antarctica, dancing the night away in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, from the culinary experiences of Sri Lanka, to eating Hotdogs at a Dodgers Baseball game, and anything in between.

She is an airfare expert with the knowledge to construct anything from the simplest to the most complex itineraries there are on offer. If it is possible, she will find it. Her extensive worldwide Cruise and Destination knowledge helps her find the best available options for our customers in combination with their airfares.

When she is not helping clients to fulfil their dream holiday plans, she enjoys learning, creating and trialing solutions for self-sufficient, sustainable living including organic gardening, natural health products, and learning about traditional New Zealand medicine ‘Rongoa’. All this combined with her creative flare of being a fully trained special effects Make-up Artist, she finds and creates a perfect balance in life.
